JI design challenge industry support

Together with our friends at Jamie’s Italian, we invited budding design, engineering and construction professionals to create a restaurant for Jamie’s Italian. A unique opportunity, open to all UK secondary schools.

Students around the country, have been re-imagining an interesting local building of their choice into a beautiful and functional working restaurant. Helping them along the way, have been some amazing architecture, engineering and construction professionals.

We’ve cooked up a great prize

The winning team will be treated to a day ‘behind the scenes’ at one of the fabulous Jamie’s Italian restaurants, with a fabulous lunch hosted by Gennaro Contaldo and the Jamie’s Italian design team.

DEC! Design Jamie's Prize Day

During an action-packed day they will discover how Jamie’s restaurants are conceived, designed and constructed. They will also find out what makes the restaurants tick from an operational point of view.

Our winners will meet and have lunch with Gennaro Contaldo at Jamie’s Piccadily, before being whisked behind the scenes of the busy restaurant.
Gennaro is Jamie Oliver’s friend and mentor, who first taught Jamie at Carluccio’s Neal Street Restaurant in the 1990s. Now, Gennaro is heavily involved in the restaurant group, helping to develop menus and train chefs around the country, and internationally, for Jamie’s Italian.

Gennaro is one of the most respected chefs in London as well as a renowned personality in his own right.
