Kuala Lumpur team triumphs with an inspirational forest school concept rooted in sustainability and tradition.

On 27th September, we proudly announced the winners of the COYO Challenge 2025 as The International School at ParkCity Kuala Lumpur.

This year’s brief invited students to design a nature-based solution for their local community – and after much deliberation, the judges decided the Malaysian team’s extraordinary project was the ‘best of the best’.

The students designed a forest school for the Orang Ulu community in the Baram Rainforest, northern Sarawak, Malaysia.

With a well-thought-out methodology for every element – from modular structures based on traditional longhouse design to mangrove restoration, regenerative agriculture, and vertical planting – this entry has everything, yet focuses on minimal impact on the natural environment – a truly inspirational people and planet-first solution.

This is the moment we told them…

A huge well done to this very deserving and talented trio, Natalie Hui, Jun Yiang Tan and Aaron Hauch.

See you in Dubai!

Our sincere thanks to Bentley Systems and AtkinsRéalis for lending their expertise and supporting this critical opportunity to showcase the design, engineering and construction professionals of the future.
