CREST Awards – choose a challenge and start designing
We are delighted and so excited! Our celebrated design challenges, have been accredited as fantastic CREST Awards. This means that even more children, young people and their teachers can take up our design challenges, and discover the amazing world of the Digital Built Environment.
What are CREST Awards?
CREST Awards are challenging and thought provoking real-world STEM projects for young people of all ages. They inspire young people to think and behave like scientists and engineers.
Each challenge promotes independent and reflective learning through enquiry-based project work.
How to run CREST
CREST Awards are flexible and cost effective. They can be run in schools, clubs or at home. With no set timetable, projects can start whenever you want, and take as long as you need.
There are six CREST Award levels. To choose the right one, consider age, ability and the time available to do the Award.

CREST Discovery Awards offer an introduction to real project work and give students the freedom to run their own investigations. They can be completed in one day, with students working together in self-managed groups.
Typical Age: 11-14
Time to complete: 5+ hours
CREST Bronze Awards introduce students to project work empowering them to work like real scientists, technologists, engineers or mathematicians. Students choose their own topic and methodologies, giving them complete freedom over their work.
Typical Age: 11-14
Time to complete: 10+ hours
CREST Silver Awards are designed to stretch students and enrich their STEM studies. Students develop their own project idea and gain in-depth experience of the scientific method or engineering design process.
Typical Age: 14-16
Time to complete: 30+ hours
